Ski Shwhackaneering

We spent 4 days in the backcountry on a ski trip. The first day was a long slog into camp. We then spent the next 2 days climbing the same mountain 3 different ways to ski 3 different lines. The final day was a race back to the car to get to our beer and cider before the ice packs melted in the cooler.

The Glamorous Part of Ski Mountaineering

"This is the really glamorous part of ski mountaineering they never tell you about - skating downhill. Everyone thinks it's all ice axes and Instagram posts, but it's a lot of downhill poling." - Cody Townsend in The Fifty - Episode 15/16 - North Maroon Bells & Holy Cross Couloir, Colorado - A Two Day Sufferfest

This video, inspired by Townsend’s comment above, was made to show the “Glamorous Parts” that rarely make it into ski videos. From long walks with heavy packs, to winter storms in June, sometimes backcountry™ skiing is one big sufferfest.
